Blog Post Titles

Here are the details of the books I have used as titles for my blog posts. They are mostly novels with some children’s books and the occasional poem. I have been trying to use books I have actually read. The title, or the plot, of these titles may relate in a vague way to the post, but not always.

The Colour of Magic – Terry Pratchett
Restless – William Boyd: set in Oxford
Pride and Prejudice – Jane Austen: visited location of the film
Astonishing Splashes of Colour – Clare Morrall: lots of colour
Blackberry Wine – Joanne Harris: purple themed post
The Tiger’s Wife – Téa Obreht: stripes
The Three Musketeers – Alexandre Dumas: Paris theme (and I read this book while we were there)
Fantastic Mr Fox – Roald Dahl: about a Fox
Carrie’s War – Nina Bawden: set in Wales and I read it during our holiday
Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep – Philip K. Dick: post about sheep and wool
The Night Watch – Sarah Waters: set in London
Chocolat – Joanne Harris: post about chocolate
The Colour Purple – Alice Walker: purple theme
The Rain Before it Falls – Jonathan Coe: rainy weekend
The Secret Garden – Frances Hodgson Burnett: new garden
The New House – Lettice Cooper: about this book and the publisher Persephone Books
Past Imperfect – Julian Fellowes: set in the late 1960s, I bought things from that period
Oranges are not the Only Fruit – Jeanette Winterson: orange sewing box
A Tiny Bit Marvellous – Dawn French: marvellous shop
Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone – J.K. Rowling: Rowling was born in Chipping Sodbury the destination of our day out
The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas – John Boyne: about pyjamas
The Jungle Book – Rudyard Kipling: made a monkey
Burning Bright – Tracy Chevalier: bright coloured patchwork
Red Dog – Louis de Bernieres: red patchwork
If Nobody Speaks of Remarkable Things – Jon McGregor: very good book, no other reason
The Glass-Blowers – Daphne Du Maurier: set in France
The Last Summer – Boris Pasternak: used Summersville fabric
Dead Until Dark – Charlaine Harris: first book in the series that True Blood is based on. I have noticed lots of crochet blankets in True Blood.
Catching Fire – Suzanne Collins: saw the Olympic Torch
Labyrinth – Kate Mosse: Mosse is from Chichester which is near Goodwood
When God was a Rabbit – Sarah Winman: bought a rabbit ornament
The Mill on the Floss – George Eliot: visit to Nuneaton, George Eliot was from the area
The Remains of the Day – Kazuo Ishiguro: about a butler, my fabric is by Amy Butler
La’s Orchestra Saves the World – Alexander McCall Smith: character called Lavender, I made lavender bags
The Third Policeman – Flann O’Brien: partly about bicycles, went to see the Tour de France
Anne of Green Gables – L. M. Montgomery: green blanket
The Heart of the Matter – Graham Greene: another green blanket
White Teeth – Zadie Smith: set in London, about my trip to the London 2012 Olympics
The Sense of an Ending – Julian Barnes: end of the Olympics
Witch Child – Celia Rees: about a journal sewn into a quilt, my post about the Festival of Quilts
The Language of Flowers – Vanessa Diffenbaugh: flower kit
